Trent Burkett was born in San Bernadino California in 1970, although he has spent the majority of his life in Sacramento area. He completed his Bachelors of Art at Sacramento State University as well as later earning an MFA from the University of Minnesota. Trent is a potter, sculptor and professor of Art at the University of the Pacific in Stockton California. His work at Trax is followed by a exuberant audience. All are witnessing his rapid professional progression in clay. He regularly wood fires with Scott Parady at the Pope Valley Kiln outside of Napa Valley. Although Trent has never visited Japan, his work reveals strong Eastern influences. His wood fired pots have deep rich surfaces and beautiful textures. Trent also soda fires his work. He is known to us as a detail oriented, neat nik capable of building anything and solving any problem. But his pots have substance beyond mechanical controls. He manages it all very well. Many of his pots are in the TRAX collection.
