At first glance a pot made by Minnesota/Wisconsin potter Wayne Branum is pleasing. Further investigation reveals that Branum's pots connect to interests beyond clay. His experience building fireplaces as a stonemason seem linked to the warm & rich wood-fired surfaces. It is no surprise to learn that Branum has been a full-time architect since the mid 1980s, as his pots display a focus on utility, a high level of craftsmanship, and a strong sense of form. |
